On Friday, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, the Cabinet Minister for Commerce and Industry of Rajasthan, inaugurated the highly anticipated Jaipur Jewelry Show at the JECC, Jaipur. The event, which has earned a significant place on the global map, brought together key players and enthusiasts from the gem and jewelry industry. Addressing the gathering, Colonel Rathore emphasized the importance of the show in showcasing the best of India's gem and jewelry industry and expressed his heartfelt wishes for a bright future ahead.
A Grand Showcase of Craftsmanship
In his inaugural speech, Colonel Rathore praised the Jaipur Jewelry Show as a grand representation of the finest offerings in the gem and jewelry industry. He highlighted how the event serves as a global platform for the industry, bringing together jewelry makers, artisans, and entrepreneurs from around the world.
“This exhibition is a symbol of the exceptional talent and craftsmanship that our country holds. It not only brings forth the best jewelry but also presents the rich cultural heritage and intricate artistry of our jewelers. The Jaipur Jewelry Show is an outstanding example of what Rajasthan, and India, can achieve on the international stage,” said Colonel Rathore.
Encouraging Global Growth and Emotional Connection
As the Chief Guest, Colonel Rathore also took the opportunity to encourage the entrepreneurs and industry leaders present at the event to expand their reach across international, national, and domestic markets. He emphasized the importance of creating emotional connections with consumers through the jewelry they produce.
“The story behind every piece of jewelry should resonate emotionally with the buyer. Jewelry is not just an ornament; it is a symbol of emotions, memories, and traditions. It is important for the industry to focus on the emotional narrative that connects the consumer to the product,” Colonel Rathore stated.
Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of skill development in the jewelry sector. He emphasized that, to maintain global competitiveness, it is essential to keep up with the ever-evolving industry standards and upgrade skills continuously.
Linking Jewelry with Tourism
Colonel Rathore also discussed the potential of linking tourism with the jewelry industry. He suggested that more events like the Jaipur Jewelry Show should be organized, where not only domestic buyers but also international visitors can learn about the craftsmanship, history, and process of jewelry making. By integrating tourism with jewelry, tourists can witness firsthand how jewelry is created and the value of Indian artistry. This will not only help in better marketing but also increase sales while promoting India's craft to the world.
“There should be more opportunities where people can visit jewelry factories and see the process of making these beautiful ornaments. This would give consumers a deeper understanding of the work, the skill, and the resources that go into making each piece,” he said.
A Thriving Industry with Vast Employment Opportunities
The gem and jewelry industry in Jaipur is a key employment generator, with over 100 factories operating in the state. Jaipur is known for processing over 300 varieties of precious and semi-precious stones, and the industry is a significant contributor to Rajasthan's economy. Rajasthan’s Meenakari jewelry exports account for nearly 90%, while its Kundan jewelry exports represent 60% of the total share.

Additionally, the special economic zone (SEZ) in Sitapura, Jaipur, spanning 110.8 acres, is home to 154 units providing jobs to over 11,217 individuals.
